Since the outbreak of the conflict in 2015, more than 3.6 million people have been displaced from their homes across Yemen, half of them to Marib Governorate and the eastern parts of the country. This has resulted in significant pressures on the existing infrastructure and services, although they are insufficient and do not cover the average need.
Displacement is expected to continue towards Wadi and Sahel Hadhramaut, Shabwa and Al-Mahra, where IDP sites are already overcrowded and response capacity is overstretched.
ERIM Hadhramaut, Al-Mahra and Shabwa is implementing a package of interventions in the areas of water, environmental sanitation and health awareness, with the aim of providing a healthy and safe environment in the communities IDPs.
