Education

According to UNICEF for the year 2021, more than two million school-age children are currently out of school in Yemen due to the conflict, while two-thirds of the teaching staff; that is more than 170,000 teachers, have not been paid regularly for four years.
According to UN, education had been suspended in more than 2500 schools by 2019, two-thirds of which were damaged by attacks, others used by war forces or became shelters for the IDPs, and others simply closed due to lack of resources and inability to pay salaries and costs.
While more than 523,000 school-aged IDP children have difficulty enrolling in education due to the lack of sufficient space in the classrooms, schools have been damaged or used by the war parties.
The BCHR works with its partners such as K.S.Relief to ensure the continuity of education and enhance the educational environment in the most affected areas by building alternative schools, distributing school syllabuses and school bags, as well as providing uniforms and education supplies.
