Enhance Family and Community Resilience Project

Sep 4, 2021
Beneficiaries 1178
Duration 8 months
Funding FAO
Implemented By BCHR
Targeting Hajar District, Hadhramaut Governorate

The torrential rains that occurred in Hajer District, Hadhramaut Governorate, in June 2020, caused almost total paralysis of the agricultural sector, as a result of the collapse of most irrigation canals and water barriers. The BCHR, in partnership with FAO, through Enhance Family and Community Resilience project, worked to rehabilitate irrigation canals and water barriers, through the cash-for-work mechanism that helps the most vulnerable groups to improve their food security.
The project included establishing water users associations, rehabilitating 15,900 linear meters of irrigation canals, rehabilitating water barriers with a volume of 7,337 cubic metres, and rehabilitating a complex of 1,620 square metres, as well as distributing agricultural inputs "seeds" and poultry for the poorest families.
Implementation period September 2020 - April 2021
