About the Job:
Project Overview
The Strengthening Institutional and Economic Resilience in Yemen (SIERY) project aims to support smallholders and SMEs in Yemen by enhancing their value chain development, technical, financial, and business skills, and providing access to finance. This TOR outlines the roles and responsibilities of the Technical Consultants, specifically the Value Chain Development Consultant and the Capacity Building and Entrepreneurship Development Consultant.

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Agribusiness Advisor to provide technical assistance and support to farmers, agribusinesses, and other stakeholders in in the Al Madinah and Al Wadi districts of Marib Governorate. The Advisor will play a critical role in providing advice and training to farmers, improving agricultural productivity, enhancing market access, and promoting sustainable and inclusive agricultural development.

Key Responsibilities:
• Technical Assistance:
o Provide technical guidance to farmers on improved agricultural practices, including:
- Crop and livestock production techniques
- Soil and water management
- Integrated pest and disease management
- Post-harvest handling and storage

o Advise farmers on the selection and use of appropriate inputs, such as fertilizers, seeds, and agrochemicals.
o Conduct farm visits, demonstrations, and trainings to disseminate best practices.

• Market Development:
- Assist farmers in identifying and accessing markets for their agricultural products.
- Facilitate linkages between farmers and buyers, processors, and input suppliers.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify market opportunities and challenges.
- Support the development of farmer groups and cooperatives to enhance their bargaining power.

• Business Development:
- Advise agribusinesses on business planning, financial management, and marketing strategies.
- Assist in the development of value chains and the establishment of agro-processing enterprises.
- Promote the adoption of innovative technologies and business models in the agricultural sector.

• Project Management:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of agricultural development projects.
- Monitor and evaluate project progress and impact.
- Prepare project reports and documentation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders.

• Capacity Building:
- Conduct trainings and workshops for farmers, extension agents, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and disseminate relevant training materials.
- Mentor and supervise junior staff.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in agricultural extension, rural development, or agribusiness.
• Strong understanding of agricultural production systems and value chains.
• Proven experience in providing technical assistance to farmers and agribusinesses.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis software].
• Experience working in rural communities in the Marib governorate is highly desirable.
