On Thursday, BCHR held the inception workshop for the FuTuRe project, Second Phase, in Al-Mukalla. The project is funded by K.S.Relief and implemented in partnership with WFP.
At the opening, which was attended by Mr. Abdulaziz Bawazir, Head of K.S.Relief’s Project Coordination Unit in Hadramout Governorate, Eng. Amin Barziq, Deputy Governor of Hadramout for Technical Affairs, highlighted the project’s importance in promoting sustainable development in both the agricultural and fishery sectors. He affirmed the local authority’s full support and facilitation for the success of such initiatives.
Mr. Daniel, Head of the WFP office, expressed his delight in partnering with K.S.Relief and BCHR. He praised the efforts of the local authorities and community committees in identifying community assets that will strengthen local food production.
Eng. Fahmi Bin Mansour, CEO of BCHR, gave a brief overview of the project, which targets three main sectors: agriculture, fisheries, and vocational training in Hadramout and Al-Mahrah governorates, benefiting a total of 3,235 participants. He extended his gratitude to K.S.Relief for funding the project.
On the sidelines of the workshop, an exhibition was held showcasing agricultural products and vocational training outcomes from the first phase of the project.
The project includes the rehabilitation of 19 community assets in the agriculture and fishery sectors, as well as vocational training for 384 young people across 12 professional fields, accompanied by the distribution of toolkits. The project aims to improve food security for beneficiary households, enhance agricultural production, reduce disaster risks, and improve livelihoods through investment in human capital.
