This Thursday, the Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator of the United Nations in Yemen, Mr. Diego Zorrella, was briefed on GFD and FFA project, which are implemented by BCHR in partnership with WFP.
During his visit to the food distribution point in Seiyun, Mr. Zorella learned about the periodic food assistance distribution mechanism that targets the most needy and IDP families, listening from the project team about the impact of reducing food rations due to lack of funding since last December.
In the same context, Mr. Zorella was briefed on the ongoing interventions within the FFA project in Al-Shubaika region, Tarim district, which was affected by the May 2021 flood disaster. He learned from the project team and the consulting engineer about the most prominent interventions that included the removal of rubble and building protections for about 120 homes, and rehabilitating the flood streams.
Mr. Zorella, accompanied by a WFP team, also visited the project to establish a "floor bridge" in Husn Faluqa, which suffers from complete block and difficult access to services during the floods, in addition to the project to rehabilitate the northern Aidid Stream, which was rehabilitated within the FFA project.
Mr. Zorella praised the project's interventions in assisting local people access services and reduce the impact of climate change.
Mr. Zorella was accompanied on his visit by Dr. Abdullah Bajeham, Director General of the Office of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Hadhramaut Valley and Desert, Mr. Ali Subeih, Secretary-General of the Local Council in Tarim District, Eng. Salem Yamar, Director of the Works Office of the district, Head of the Office of OCHA , the Mukalla hub, Mr. Niazi bin Salman, the Executive Director of BCHR, Eng. Fahmy bin Mansour, and the Director of the GFD project, Mr. Omar Makarem.
