The Undersecretary of Hadramout Governorate for Technical Affairs, Amin Barziq, opens the project Restoration and Rehabilitation of Pedestrian Bridges of Khur Al-Mukalla. The project falls within SIERY, funded by EUinYemen , and implemented by UNDP through BCHR, and in coordination with the local authority.
The project, as a top priority of the local authority's development plan for the year 2023, included the maintenance of the terminal and central columns, the metal structure, in addition to lighting and electricity, after about 20 years of the construction of Khur Al-Mukalla, during which the bridges were exposed to deterioration as a result of erosion factors.
Thanks to the project, the bridges, which are a lifeline for the population, are now safer and more efficient.
This would increase the safety of bridge users and improve the aesthetic appearance of Khur Al-Mukalla.
The opening was attended by Mr. Wael Abdel Shafi, EUinYemen Representative, Mr. Basem Al-Suqir, the National Coordinator at UNDP, Mr. Fahmi bin Mansour, CEO at BCHR, and Mr. Abdullah bin Mukhashin, UNDP Coordinator in Hadramout Governorate.
