Engineer Rabee Badam, Executive Board Member and Water and Climate Specialist at BCHR, conducted a series of strategic visits and meetings with leading Dutch universities, agencies, and organizations. The mission aimed to enhance coordination and foster long-term partnerships in the vital sectors of water and agriculture.
In pursuit of academic and technical synergy, Eng. Badam met with Ms. Claire from Wageningen University & Research. The discussions focused on the next phases of Wadi Hajr Development Plan, exploring avenues for joint research and specialized studies in water management and sustainable agriculture, in close coordination with the Wadi Hajr Development Committee.
Eng. Badam also visited Acacia Water, where he held talks with Mr. Victor Langenberg and Ms. Natalia Uribe. The meeting centered on potential collaboration regarding hydrogeological studies and water resource surveys within Yemen.
During the visit, Eng. Badam met with Mr. Renato Turilli, Senior Advisor for International Organizations, and Ms. Nina Bols, Project Development Specialist. They explored opportunities to develop research frameworks in water and agriculture by utilizing Dutch expertise and innovation.
Accompanying the RVO team, Eng. Badam also toured Elemental Water Makers and the Netherlands Water Partnership. The tour aimed to review cutting-edge technologies in Water desalination and management, and modernized agricultural irrigation systems.
At the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, Eng. Badam met with Ms. Jeltsje Kemerink-Seyoum, Coordinator of the Water and Development Partnership Programme. The meeting focused on capacity-building initiatives for Yemeni professionals and strengthening future institutional ties with BCHR.
The mission concluded with a high-level meeting with Mr. Joop Klein, Water Advisor at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Yemen. The dialogue focused on:
* Strategies for water sector development and modern technological solutions for water sourcing.
* The Wadi Hajr Development Project, funded by the Dutch government, as a benchmark model for area-based development.
* The pivotal role of Wadi Hajr Development Committee in formulating sustainable development plans.
These visits reflect the BCHR’s commitment to forging international partnerships. By aligning with global expertise, BCHR aims to revitalize Yemen’s water and agricultural sectors, driving sustainable local development and long-term recovery.
