Last Tuesday , a UNICEF team inspected the progress of the Emergency Response project for IDPs affected by conflict implemented by BCHR.
The team consisting of the child protection officer in the UNICEF regional office in Jordan, Ms. Jessica Dixon, Child protection officer of the organization’s office in Aden, Mr. Mujib Sultan, the emergency officer of Aden office, Dr. Mukhtar Saleh, and the UNICEF coordinator of Hadramout hub, Dr. Fawzia Gharama, were briefed on the launch of the distribution of 12836 CHKs for the IDPs in Bin Cena camp in Mukalla, and IDP camps in Shabwa and Al-Mahra governorates.
The team learned about the project’s interventions in the camp, which included hygiene campaigns, spraying, raising awareness campaigns to prevent Corona, and the distribution of water tanks. They listened from the camp administration and the IDPs about the most urgent needs.
The UNICEF team held a meeting with the BCHR management to discuss the project progress, the most prominent challenges facing the field teams, and ways to strengthen the partnership in the future in the water projects and environmental sanitation sector.
The Emergency Response project includes a package of interventions in the field of water, environmental sanitation and health awareness, and targets the camps of the IDPs and the host community in the governorates of "Hadhramaut, Al-Mahra, and Shabwa".
