Under the patronage of the Governor of Hadhramaut Governorate, Mr. Mabkhout bin Madi, BCHR organized an orientation workshop this Sunday in the city of Mukalla for the UNICEF-funded project Emergency Response for the Conflict-affected Children.
At the workshop opening, Hadhramaut Undersecretary for Youth Affairs, Mr. Fahmi Badawi, praised the efforts of both UNICEF and BCHR in reducing the effects of conflict on children through various interventions, stressing the cooperation of all concerned parties to make the project a success.
The head of office UNICEF, Mukalla, Dr. Fawzia Gharamah, expressed her happiness with the qualitative attendance and active participation of all relevant parties in the workshop, expressing her hope that the project will achieve a success story and sustainable outcomes to serve children in the targeted areas.
Projects manager at BCHR, Saleh Bamkhashab, stressed the importance of the project for children in providing psychological support and recovery for children affected by the conflict, referring to the BCHR’s methodology in involving all relevant parties for the success of its projects.
In turn, the project manager, Ms. Raeda Ruwaished, delivered an overview of the project objectives and activities, the detailed plan for implementing the activities in addition to the target areas.
The workshop was enriched with interventions and discussions by attendees representing various relevant authorities.
The Emergency Response for the Conflict-affected Children targets the governorates of Hadramaut and Ma’rib, and includes the establishment of a community center to serve children, the establishment of four child-friendly spaces, and awareness campaigns on violations to which children are exposed.
The workshop was attended by the Director General of the Mukalla District, Colonel Abdullah Bayaashout, the Director of Security at the district, Colonel Salah Al-Mashjari, the Director of the Office of the Ministry of Civil Status in Hadhramaut Coast, Colonel Muhammad Bagashwa, the representative of the Social Affairs Office, Ms. Hikma Al-Shuaibi, the representative of Health and Population Office in Hadhramaut Coast, Dr. Faiza Al-Amoudi, and the Director of the Health Office in Mukalla District. Dr. Muhammad Al-Yahri, the Director of Al-Mukalla Maternal and Childhood Hospital, Dr. Ibtisam Al-Maari, the Director of the Community Committees Department in Hadramout Coast, Mr. Abdullah bin Ali Al-Hajj, the Protection Officer at BCHR, Ms. Iman Al-Zubairy, the project Communication Officer, Mr. Abdullah Baabad, and a number of officials in the relevant authorities.
